5 day Liuwa Plains, Zambia

Explore the remote Zambian wilderness during your 5 day Zambia safari in the scenic Liuwa Plains. Keep an eye out for some of the over 35 000 blue wildebeest that move between the western boundary and the centre of the plains. These wildebeest usually migrate in groups of up to 1000 with Zebra and tsessebe amongst them.

The Liuwa Plains is home to a vast range of bird and animal life. The bird life is spectacular all year round and some of the species you might see include Wattled and Crowned Crane, Secretary Bird, Pelican, Yellow and Open Billed Stork and Spoonbill.

During your Zambia safari, you might encounter Zebra, Eland, red lechwe, Buffalo and Wildebeest. Explore the African bush on a game drive and keep your eye out for predators such as Lion, Wild Dog, Cheetah and Hyena. Smaller game include Porcupine and Jackal.

Transfers:

Groups departing in December will fly and and out of Kalabo Airport to avoid any bad roads. Groups departing in May and June will fly in to Kalabo Airport and return via a boat journey from Kalabo to Mongu and fly out from Mongu. The boat transfer will take about three hours and will travel through the vast swampy waters of the Zambezi flood plain. This area is ideal for birding. The camp is situated a 2 to 3 hour drive from Kalabo.
